Cinnamon American Pancakes Recipe

I do love a good weekend brunch. And there’s nothing that makes me happier than waking up on a Saturday morning and whipping up a batch of fluffy American pancakes. This weekend was no different. I had planned breakfast a few days in advance and knew I was going to make cinnamon pancakes with maple syrup. Pancakes are such a simple and totally decadent way to start your day at the weekend. You probably have most of the ingredients in the cupboard, you just need to put them to good use! Here’s my recipe so you can have a go at making your own pancakes. Ingredients 135g plain flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 2 tbsp golden caster sugar 1 tsp Schwartz ground cinnamon 130ml milk 1 large egg, lightly beaten 2tbsp melted butter, plus extra for cooking Method Sift the flour, baking powder, cinnamon salt and golden caster sugar into a large bowl. In a separate bowl, lightly whisk together the milk and egg, then the melted butter. Pour the milk mixture …

Staying Healthy in the Big Smoke

It can be tough to stay healthy when you live and work in a busy city like London. I know only too well how hard it is to stick with good, nutritious meals instead of grabbing a quick bite from a fast food place or takeaway point. I’ve been on a real health kick this year and have been trying my best to avoid pigging out just because it’s quicker than cooking. There are loads of ways to save time and maintain a balanced diet, so I thought I’d share a few of my favourites with you. If you need to make quick meals at home, you should definitely invest in a microwave. I know a lot of people believe that microwave food is automatically unhealthy, but it really doesn’t have to be. I cook myself a big batch of something delicious at the weekend (lean mince chilli, or vegetable-packed Bolognese), then freeze it into smaller portions to heat up through the week. A good tip is to freeze your food into larger, shallow dishes …

Hoxton Street Market – I Love It

Recently I came across Hoxton Street Market and I have to say, I rather like it. I was there for the opening party a few weeks ago and it was great to see people dancing in the streets while enjoying the range of delicious street food on offer. I tried out an amazing Korean salad from Korrito – a Korean/Mexican fusion stall whose signature dish is a Korean Burrito. But this is no new market. Hoxton Street market has been trading since 1687 but the new stalls are injecting a bit of new life into the street. Head down on a Saturday and you will find food stalls such as Cannon’s British charcuterie and Hoxton Bakery, alongside beautiful homewares, vintage fashion and handcrafeted accessories including handspun yarns from Sheep of Steel, vintage clothing from Aurelia Dupas and Juan is Dead’s collectables from the afterlife. For more information on Hoxton Street market, follow @hoxtonstmarket on Twitter.
