24K Magic at TRAMP

There’s just something about community that makes me go all gooey inside. We don’t have enough of it in the world these days. I remember sitting in my grandparent’s house as a kid lapping up their stories of street parties and deep friendships with neighbours. I can’t deny we live in different times now, but there is a large part of me that craves it. And it is probably this reason I prefer team sports to solo sports and why I am rather fond of going out to a venue and knowing I’ll bump into a friendly face when I get there. You might be wondering where I’m going with this, but bear with me reader. You see, you’d think the only places that have even a whiff of community these days are members’ clubs. But I don’t necessarily agree with that. I am a member of a club (which I absolutely love and is amazing in so many ways), but does it have a real community? Champagne Plus Fromage

What An evening of Champagne tasting at Champagne Plus Fromage Where Champagne Plus Fromage, Brixton Village Experience On a rare smoking hot summer evening I headed down to Brixton’s Champagne Plus Fromage to enjoy a taster evening with co-founder Maud Fierobe. Champagne Plus Fromage is a collaboration between French Bubbles who import award winning limited production grower champagne and Une Normande à Londres, a family owned company who bring to London the very best artisan cheese, cured meat and preserves from across France. Their Fromagerie serves over 50 different types of soft and hard cheeses and a selection are expertly paired to compliment the 4 different Champagnes we would be drinking that evening. The bistro is as charming as Maude herself who stood at the head of the table and introduced all of the wines to …

Taste of London 2010

I only had two hours to hot foot it around Taste of London this year before jumping on a train to Nottingham and my aim was to try as many dishes as I could in a short amount of time. I was on a mission – the tube journey on the way consisted of revising the programme and circling every restaurant that I wanted to visit and every dish that I wanted to try. There were quite a few and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to try them all due to time, money and stomach restraints (I did however skip breakfast so I could fit a little more in). To me, there didn’t seem much point in choosing dishes from restaurants that I have either visited before or that are easily accessible to me in terms of price. I chose to ignore the four lip-synching Malaysian dancers that greeted punters and headded straight to The Grill at The Dorchester where I ordered Pan roasted scallop with sardine pie and a cauliflower puree. A …
