Homemade Pizza (is very satisfying)

My boyfriends mum bought a pizza oven for her garden last summer. We tried to use it a couple of times but failed quite miserably and had to resort to the oven. Ah, the good old oven. Unfortunately we don’t have access to the pizza oven in London so the conventional oven has become our pizza doughs new best friend. I can bang on and on and on about my love for tomatoes, mozzarella and bread so there really is no better meal for me. Homemade Garlic Pizza Bread, originally uploaded by Food For Think. We started off by testing the dough to make garlic and rosemary pizza with homemade chilli oil. Yum. Next to go was the mozzarella pizza with basil, rocket and watercress. We make our own tomato bases regularly and use them for anything from soup to pasta sauces and pizza bases. We’re desperately hoping to get the pizza oven working this summer because a charred base is just to die for! Homemade Mozzarella Pizza with Rocket and Watercress, originally uploaded by …

First BBQ of 2010

I’m just a tad excited becuase I had my first BBQ of the year today. It consisted of sausages that were in my goodie bag from Dine With Dos Hermanos at Foreman & Field on Monday evening, asparagus and a whole Sea Bream stuffed with garlic and chilli butter. Roasted Tomato, Garlic and Butter Bean Soup

Odd to want to make soup in late May isn’t it? Well this particular day just happened to be a little chilly and I just happened to fancy a bit of soup. Tomato, roasted garlic and butterbean soup, originally uploaded by Food For Think. I just love soup because it’s easy and you can blend pretty much whatever you want. One of my favourite foods is the great tomato and i’ll always choose a tomato base over anything else. I remember when I first moved to London I would walk past a newsagent where they sell fruit and veg outside and if I was a little hungry, I would purchase just one tomato and walk down the street eating it like an apple. I got some funny looks. Another favourite food is roasted garlic – oh my, there’s not much better. Then there’s the butter beans. I became obsessed with butter beans when I was a child because of a cafe that my dad used to take me to every weekend called The Peppermill in …

Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

As far as I remember, British summertime has been pretty sparse over the last few years and I do so love the sunshine as it’s an excuse to eat lots and lots of ice cream. I remember when I was young (and hot summers were the norm), I used to go to the park with my dad and he’d buy me a 99 flake. I’d always rip off the bottom of the cone, scoop up some ice cream, sprinkle a little flake over the top and present him with a mini ice cream. I used to think that I was presenting him with the biggest treat of his life while I scoffed away at the rest. Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream, originally uploaded by Food For Think. I have since moved on from 99 flakes and purchasing ice cream from the back of a van that played the match of the day theme tune over and over again and now my favourite place to buy gelato is Scoop in Covent Garden – worryingly convenient this summer …

Quinoa and Feta Salad

There is NOTHING better than a good salad on a hot summers day – and today was no exception. After visiting the M&G Garden at Chelsea Flower Show this afternoon in the swealtering heat and stupidly getting sucked into the temptations of Oxford Street, I headed to the cool and quiet Waitrose foodhall in John Lewis to purchase a few bits and bobs to make a very delicious and healthy Quinoa Salad. The recipe serves four but my boyfriend and I were particularly hungry this evening so there was nowt left. Quinoa and Feta Salad, originally uploaded by Food For Think.
