Jet-Set with NY-LON Lounge Bar

What NY-LON Lounge Bar brings the best of New York and London style, design, glamour and mixology to The O2. Where Unit 4.03 Entertainment Avenue The O2 North Greenwich London SE10 0DX Experience Having arrived at the O2 a little early, I marched straight over to NY-LON. I was met at the door by a smartly dressed waiter who showed me to my seat in the slick, shiny new bar and restaurant with a first class Virgin Atlantic Lounge feel. After a long ponder on the cocktail menu I ordered the 30, 000Ft. It was a modern‎ variation on the old fashioned with a Woodford Reserve bourbon base, orange and maraschino cherry notes, taking you right above the London clouds. The menu offers up a selection of small plates and sharing platters inspired by New York and London. Specialities are New York speciality cured meats and Billingsgate fish pie. My friend and shared some small plates to ease the pressure of choosing what to eat. The Brooklyn crab salad was light and fresh and was …

Tapas at 5am, and it’s wonderful!

What La Cabina http://www.la-cabina.com/ Where Located a short walk from the Geoffrey museum is London’s new late night bar; offering food, drink and a variety of music until 12pm Tuesday and Wednesday and 5am Thursday to Sunday. Experience Following their opening on Saturday the 8th of December, we were invited to the press launch of La Cabina. La Cabina is the third boutique bar by entrepreneurial brothers Nick and Al Heathcote and from speaking with Nick last night has been a real labour of love. Having bought the site that was previously ‘the yellow door’ at the start of the year, they have worked hard to make it unrecognisable from the grimy former owner, keeping only their historic late license, making them one of the only 5am license owners in the area. The brothers have gutted the club to create a warm environment of secretive coves and long tables, accommodating for either a big night or a romantic date. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a phone box on a steel door; the instructions were …

No 1.Duke Street opens in Richmond

Where No1 Duke Street   What Following the success of No 11 Pimlico and Number 32, The Old Town in Clapham, Darwin and Wallace have opened their third site in Richmond. No 1 Duke Street opened on the 14th of November and is already giving its sister bars competition. Experience I have lived in London for almost over two years and for the first time yesterday I travelled out to Richmond. We left our house at 12.50PM to venture west and around 4 trains and a couple of closures later, we arrived at our destination, a very picturesque town which was already alive with the Christmas buzz. I might also add the perfect place to complete your Christmas shopping with shops that would please even the most choosy of friends. As timing was never my strong suit, we ran straight to the restaurant, which is a gorgeous white open plan restaurant across three rooms and two floors. Everything is crisp clean and the open kitchen instantly makes you wish your home was decorated in even …

Christmas in Belgravia!

Where The St Moritz Ski Bar, The Goring What The Goring’s popular outdoor terrace has been transformed into a glamorous alpine Ski Bar. Experience The Goring is truly beautiful and on a Thursday evening may just be one of the busiest places in Belgravia. Set off the main road, the building is emerged in a row of townhouses and instantly gives off a romantic feel. When we arrived, we wiggled past a queue of ten people and were kindly shown out to the terrace. The terrace is beautiful, looking onto a garden of fairy lights; we sat under the warm heaters on thick cashmere rugs and started to examine the vast cocktail menu. Both of us opted for the St Moritz special of San Moritzino, which tasted fresh and citrusy, with a hint of marzipan. We then moved onto an OG Negroni which was a delicious mix of Campari, elderflower and Drambuie. We were then shown a platter of beautifully prepared canapés, which included a mix of delicacies from around the world. My first choice …

The Three Compasses meets the Devonshire Coast

Where The Three Compasses, Dalston     What CLAW takes up residency in The Three Compasses for the next few months. Experience I don’t know any person who does not like the award winning Three Compasses in Dalston. With its dimly lit, French boudoir charm, you are always guaranteed a lovely environment to catch up with friends and loved ones while you enjoy a  drink from their wide variety of spirits and craft beers. The Three Compasses operates a residency-only kitchen to give its customers a wide net of rotating menus featuring different street food superstars. The latest delicacies come from CLAW. Since January this year, founder Fabian Clark has tasked himself with putting the passion for crab back onto British plates, as Britain exports something to the tune of 80% of its crab to the rest of Europe.  On Wednesday we attended the press opening and were far from disappointed. The bar ran as normal and we promptly ordered two white wines and squeezed into a seat in the corner. The whole place …
