#NewTradition #11 – Gluten Free Lavazza Espresso Chocolate Brownies

Ok, I know. The other day I admitted to you that I gave up my gluten free diet for my strawberries and cream cake at the weekend. I hadn’t planned to, honestly. And I can prove it to you; because I also baked some gluten free Lavazza Espresso Chocolate Brownies. Gluten free living isn’t hard at all, especially when you know what you are looking to avoid. There are so many other options out there, just as delicious, believe it or not. I recently posted about Andy Murray’s gluten free diet helping his performance on court, citing that mine had also improved since giving it up. These Lavazza espresso brownies are really delicious. My boss even declared that it could possibly be the best chocolate brownie he has ever tasted. The flour is replaced with ground almonds, which is one of my favourite baking ingredients. Almonds are also a great pairing for coffee so this combination worked really well. I took them out of the oven slightly earlier as I love a gooey brownie but …

Gogi, Little Venice

I can’t quite believe what us Brits have had to endure since last October. The usual dark wintry evenings, snow in May, constant grey cloudy skies. It’s enough to make even Carole Smiley miserable. A couple of weekends ago we saw a taste of what I hope is to come for the rest of the summer – blue skies and highs of 20degrees. Yesss, come on! It was the perfect day for a walk along Regents Canal in West London. We were in Little Venice to visit Gogi, a new(ish) Korean restaurant situated on the bridge of the canal on Edgware Road. Gogi is impressive from the outside and the restaurant makes an impression even as you walk towards it from the canal. Enter and the decor is equally is striking. Each table is equipped with a grill and exposed brickwork walls surround you. The waitress greeted me by name and I was shown my table looking out over the canal. We opened the menu and my stomach groaned with excitement – I had only …

#NewTradition #10 – Latte Art Love Birds

Last week I attended a Lavazza Masterclass in Covent Garden to learn a bit more about the history for the brand, along with how to make the perfect cup of coffee. We were shown how to use the frothing wand on our Limited Edition Wimbledon A Modo Mio machines and I made the most delicious cappuccino I had ever made up until that point, but we didn’t have enough time to experiment with latte art. I have wanted to be able to do latte art for a long time so last night I shut myself in my kitchen, armed with nearly 3 litres of milk, over 25 Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules plus a few coffee cups and set to work with my machine. Latte art wasn’t as easy as I first thought. The first few attempts were pretty poor and it took a while to get to understand correct ratio of milk, how high (and low) to hold the jug, how fast to pour and when to move the jug around. You can see …

#NewTradition #8 – Strawberries and Cream at Wimbledon

Not a new tradition, I know, but strawberries and cream has to be the most famous tradition of Wimbledon. Every single person that I have asked over the last week or so has said that first, following with ‘I just love it’, of course. I had a Lavazza Afternoon Coffee party at the weekend and rather than just serving strawberries and cream in a bowl, I wanted to do something a bit different but not so different that it would take away from the utterly amazing and simple combination that is strawberries and cream. So I turned it into a cake. You may know that I am currently on a gluten free diet. It has been four weeks since I gave it up but I have to say that my cake was too tempting on Sunday. It was looking at me, shouting ‘eat me Sarah, EAT MEEEE’. So I just had to. And I don’t have a single regret about it. This really is the perfect show stopping cake and I would recommend it for …

#NewTradition #7 – Hosting a Lavazza ‘Afternoon Coffee’ Party

Day eight at Wimbledon. The players had a rest yesterday due to an old Wimbledon tradition of no play on the first Sunday. But they are back today and raring to go. Food for Think’s Opponent drew gasps of delight from the crowd as she walked on court with what one can only describe as a high fashion outfit today. The players warm up with five minutes until the game commences, with Food for Think to serve first. You may or not have been following the French Open over the last couple of weeks. This is when I really start to get excited as it signals that Wimbledon is on the way. Yesterday we jumped in the car and headed to our friends flat to host a mini Lavazza Afternoon Coffee Party. The idea? To spend the afternoon living the Italian lifestyle through Lavazza’s sense of sociability. I also wanted to share the culture of real Italian coffee through Lavazza’s brand values of excellence, tradition, innovation and experience with my friends. So we boxed up …
