From Jamaica with Love

What Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, one of the oldest rum distilleries in the world, launches a new product range and the ‘From Jamaica with Love’ campaign, with the aim of de-mystifying premium rum. Experience I had the pleasure of attending an Appleton Estate rum tasting with Richard Tring, former winner of the prestigious Appleton Estate bartender challenge. I like a dark ‘N’ stormy as much as the next girl, but I have to admit I am somewhat of a rum novice when it comes to premium rum. I arrived eager to learn. First for tasting was Appleton Estate Signature Blend. The Signature Blend is made up of a combination of several rums of different styles and ages. It had a golden amber appearance and tasted like a combination of citrus, peach and apricot. It was nice to sip, but would make the perfect accompaniment for a cocktail. Next up was Appleton Estate Rare Blend 12 Year Old. The rum is aged in Number One Select American Oak barrels and is aged to a minimum of …

London Grind, London Bridge

Where London Grind, London Bridge What London Grind is the latest venue from the team behind the successful Shoreditch, Soho and Holborn Grind. It sits proudly riverside at 2 London Bridge on the doorstep of Borough Market. Inside, the bare bricks provide an understated decor which is effortlessly chic. Experience London Grind of course offers its name sake high-quality coffee but focus turns to their signature cocktail list and locally-sourced dishes to feed hungry brunch seekers and dinner diners alike. I knew my luck was in when my friend and I were seated at a table with a river view. We were instantly recommended the gin cocktail Clover Club and didn’t need our arms twisting. It was sweet and fresh and packed a raspberry punch. For those with a more savoury pallet try a Negroni or locally brewed beer from Fourpure brewery. Laid out on view were a selection of focaccia, cheese and meat sourced from Borough Market every morning. My friend and I opted to share plates and both loved the devine Mushroom and …

The Winter Cabin at York and Albany

Where The  Winter Cabin, York and Albany What Situated in the Courtyard of Gordon Ramsey’s York and Albany is the winter cabin, an alpine ski lodge experience serving festive cocktails and canapés. The picture of winter chic, located on a quiet corner of Regents Park, you would never guess this hidden gem was mere minutes from the mania of Camden tube. The Experience We took the Northern line from Bank to Camden, sweaty as always, I thought to myself. If this was a first date, I’m pretty sure I have been closer to most people on this tube than dates I have been on of late. I went with Hannah, a colleague who had started in my team the week before. She is amusing, likes food and at the end of a long working day is still good company, needless to say a great partner for dining. We arrived and were politely shown through to the courtyard. The York and Albany is lovely, like a drawing room; it is cosy and welcoming without an air …
