Portlebay Popcorn – Gluten Free Snack

I’ve been off gluten again for a week now. I had one blip over the weekend where I ate a few pieces of popcorn that contained gluten but apart from that I have found it incredibly easy – I’m not missing bread in the slightest and I have found meals and snacking a total breeze. Snacking, in part, because of a couple of products that were sent across to me. One of those products is Portlebay’s Kracklecorn. I received a box of the whole range (Applewood Smoked Cheddar, The Classic, Wasabi & Sweet Ginger, Chilli & Lime and Crispy Bacon & Maple Syrup) just before last weekend and by Monday they had nearly all gone! I was slightly dubious about some of the flavours – before last week I had never really ventured too far away from salty and sweet and salty, but every single flavour surprised and delighted me. My favourite was crispy bacon and maple syrup, a flavour combination that I only discovered on pancake day at The Breakfast Club and one that …

Gluten Free Snacking – Metcalfe’s skinny topcorn

Last summer I went gluten free for three months. I took an intolerance test from YorkTest and it came back with my worst nightmare – I shouldn’t consume too much dairy, almonds or egg white and I should cut out gluten completely. To be honest I never thought I’d last three months but I did. And despite my reservations it wasn’t that hard. I crumpled towards the end of last year when I went on holiday to Barcelona but from today I will be going gluten free again. One snack that I don’t have to say goodbye to is popcorn. I was sent a bag of the newest flavour from Metcalfe’s skinny topcorn a couple of weeks ago and I think I have found my new favourite flavour – Sweet Cinnamon Spice. I love it because it satisfies my sweet tooth and the bonus is that it comes in at only 117 calories. Metcalfe’s skinny topcorn Sweet Cinnamon Spice is exclusively available at Waitrose.
