I’ve been off gluten again for a week now. I had one blip over the weekend where I ate a few pieces of popcorn that contained gluten but apart from that I have found it incredibly easy – I’m not missing bread in the slightest and I have found meals and snacking a total breeze. Snacking, in part, because of a couple of products that were sent across to me. One of those products is Portlebay’s Kracklecorn. I received a box of the whole range (Applewood Smoked Cheddar, The Classic, Wasabi & Sweet Ginger, Chilli & Lime and Crispy Bacon & Maple Syrup) just before last weekend and by Monday they had nearly all gone!
I was slightly dubious about some of the flavours – before last week I had never really ventured too far away from salty and sweet and salty, but every single flavour surprised and delighted me. My favourite was crispy bacon and maple syrup, a flavour combination that I only discovered on pancake day at The Breakfast Club and one that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about ever since. How did I turn my nose up at it for so long? The sweetness and crunch of the raw cane sugar complimented the smoky bacon and maple syrup flavours so well and as I finished the last mouthful I was almost begging for more!
Portlebay Kracklecorn is a relatively new product, born in Devon in 2012. I haven’t seen it in any shops yet but I can expect that will all change as more and more people try it. What I want to know now though is where can I sign up for more? LOTS more, please!
