Not a new tradition, I know, but strawberries and cream has to be the most famous tradition of Wimbledon. Every single person that I have asked over the last week or so has said that first, following with ‘I just love it’, of course. I had a Lavazza Afternoon Coffee party at the weekend and rather than just serving strawberries and cream in a bowl, I wanted to do something a bit different but not so different that it would take away from the utterly amazing and simple combination that is strawberries and cream. So I turned it into a cake. You may know that I am currently on a gluten free diet. It has been four weeks since I gave it up but I have to say that my cake was too tempting on Sunday. Tradition #2 – The Wimbledon Ballot One of my first memories of a Wimbledon ballot is being at my friend’s house, aged six, when her mum had just won tickets in the Wimbledon ballot. A major tennis fan, she was quite understandably extremely happy and her excitement was so infectious. It took a while for my six year old self to understand the concept of the ballot but it is something I have never forgotten, therefore making it one of my personal Wimbledon traditions.
