#NewTradition #10 – Latte Art Love Birds

Last week I attended a Lavazza Masterclass in Covent Garden to learn a bit more about the history for the brand, along with how to make the perfect cup of coffee. We were shown how to use the frothing wand on our Limited Edition Wimbledon A Modo Mio machines and I made the most delicious cappuccino I had ever made up until that point, but we didn’t have enough time to experiment with latte art. I have wanted to be able to do latte art for a long time so last night I shut myself in my kitchen, armed with nearly 3 litres of milk, over 25 Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules plus a few coffee cups and set to work with my machine. Latte art wasn’t as easy as I first thought. The first few attempts were pretty poor and it took a while to get to understand correct ratio of milk, how high (and low) to hold the jug, how fast to pour and when to move the jug around. You can see …

#NewTradition #8 – Strawberries and Cream at Wimbledon

Not a new tradition, I know, but strawberries and cream has to be the most famous tradition of Wimbledon. Every single person that I have asked over the last week or so has said that first, following with ‘I just love it’, of course. I had a Lavazza Afternoon Coffee party at the weekend and rather than just serving strawberries and cream in a bowl, I wanted to do something a bit different but not so different that it would take away from the utterly amazing and simple combination that is strawberries and cream. So I turned it into a cake. You may know that I am currently on a gluten free diet. It has been four weeks since I gave it up but I have to say that my cake was too tempting on Sunday. It was looking at me, shouting ‘eat me Sarah, EAT MEEEE’. So I just had to. And I don’t have a single regret about it. This really is the perfect show stopping cake and I would recommend it for …

#NewTradition #7 – Hosting a Lavazza ‘Afternoon Coffee’ Party

Day eight at Wimbledon. The players had a rest yesterday due to an old Wimbledon tradition of no play on the first Sunday. But they are back today and raring to go. Food for Think’s Opponent drew gasps of delight from the crowd as she walked on court with what one can only describe as a high fashion outfit today. The players warm up with five minutes until the game commences, with Food for Think to serve first. You may or not have been following the French Open over the last couple of weeks. This is when I really start to get excited as it signals that Wimbledon is on the way. Yesterday we jumped in the car and headed to our friends flat to host a mini Lavazza Afternoon Coffee Party. The idea? To spend the afternoon living the Italian lifestyle through Lavazza’s sense of sociability. I also wanted to share the culture of real Italian coffee through Lavazza’s brand values of excellence, tradition, innovation and experience with my friends. So we boxed up …

#NewTradition #4 – Lavazza Espresso Chocolate Truffles

Day four at Wimbledon. The grass courts are starting to look a little worn but the players look bright eyed and bushy tailed. The crowds are anticipating the start of the next match between Food for Think and her opponent. There are a few umbrellas lurking as we are in for a sprinkling of rain today. Let’s hope it doesn’t cause too much disruption. The players step onto the court, the ball boys and girls run into position. The opponent to serve. Food for Think squats into position, bouncing from side to side, swivelling the racket between her hands. The opponent serves and Food for Think reacts quickly and hits the ball cross court to start the rally. Coffee and chocolate is an old tradition. The flavours compliment each other so well and there are thousands of variations on this pairing but I thought I would add my own twist when creating these truffles. I stumbled upon a pot of popping candy on the baking isle at the supermarket and it took me back to …

Win a Hamper to Celebrate Lavazza at Wimbledon 2013

Tradition #2 – The Wimbledon Ballot One of my first memories of a Wimbledon ballot is being at my friend’s house, aged six, when her mum had just won tickets in the Wimbledon ballot. A major tennis fan, she was quite understandably extremely happy and her excitement was so infectious. It took a while for my six year old self to understand the concept of the ballot but it is something I have never forgotten, therefore making it one of my personal Wimbledon traditions. Now as you may know, I am part way through the Lazavva Wimbledon 2013 competition (see my post here for more info) and I have a 1 in 5 chance of winning tickets to visit Wimbledon this year. Lavazza, Italy’s favourite coffee brand, has invited 15 food and drink, fashion and lifestyle bloggers to share the culture of real Italian coffee through its values of excellence, tradition, innovation and experience and has asked us to enter this #NewTradition competition. And as well as having the chance to win tickets to Wimbledon …
