Every once in a while I go through a healthy phase. One too many burgers or pizzas usually pushes me over the edge and I spend the next few weeks being a good girl by going to the gym and eating healthily. I was pretty good over the summer, then I took my first bite of a burger at The Advisory, my friend’s burger restaurant, which happens to be a 2 minute walk away from my house, and I was hooked.
So I would say it was good timing when Argos got in touch to ask if I would like to try one of the juicers from their range. I went through a juice phase a couple of years ago but stopped when I spilled my creation all over the kitchen floor one morning before work. The machine I had at the time wasn’t the easiest to use so I gave up as it was too much hassle before a hard day at work.
This time, however, was different. Argos has a wide range of juicers and I chose the Phillips Viva Juicer in Black, which prides itself on being easy to clean – in one minute in fact. So I put it to the test before work for a couple of weeks before heading to Australia. I used fruit and veg from the local greengrocers and went for a green juice with spinach, kale, carrot, apple, ginger and lemon. I switched the juicer on and it sprang to life. It’s not a quiet machine and I’m sure the bedroom straight above the kitchen could hear. But they are right when they say that it can be cleaned in one minute. The instructions that came in the box weren’t the most detailed and when I finally figured out how to take the blade off the base (just pull it quite firmly) I scooped the veg waste into the recycling box, gave the parts it a quick wash and left them on the draining board to dry. I was also left with the most delicious and healthy breakfast juice. A big thumbs up from me.
