Prezzo Summer Menu

Al fresco dining in London is a bit of a sore point for me. Whenever we see a bit of sun, althgouh let’s be honest that’s quite rare in this country, all I want to do is head to a nice restaurant and sit outside basking in the sunshine. The problem is that everyone else in the city has the same idea, so I always find that the outdoor spaces are mobbed. So I was really looking forward to trying Prezzo last Friday evening. It was one of the hottest evenings of the year and we were booked on a table outside on the small but cute terrace on North Audley Street. Prezzo has just launched a new summer menu, which includes a range of small plates, including dishes such as Soufflé with Beetroot Confit, Grilliad Asparagus and Prosciutto Ham and a Tomato and Mozzarella salad. Diners can choose one plate for £5.25, three for £14.95 or five for £19.95. We enjoyed an Antipasto platter to start – prosciutto ham, salami milano, spicy ventricina salami, buffalo …

Hackney Advisory

A few months ago I told you about my friend’s cafe, the Hackney Bureau on Mare Street. Well now it’s time to tell you about her newest venture, Hackney Advisory, also on Mare Street next door to the infamous Dolphin pub. Hackney Advisory is a burger restaurant at heart but also serves dishes such as incredible (and rather spicy) chicken wings, their own version of the classic Canadian poutine and a few other tempting dishes. They are also open for brunch and serve a range of classic brunch options, including poached eggs and avocado on toast, pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup and peanut butter and jelly toasted muffin. I visited not one but three times within the space of a few days and I opted for the cheeseburger twice and a portion of poutine the other time. The burger is served just how I like it – medium rare on a brioche bun with a perfect amount of salad and fries. I had never tried poutine before but I’m already thinking about making it …

Street Kitchen at The Miller, Bermondsey

Move over burger, it’s time for a new kid on the block – the hotdog. Now, a few months ago I never could have imagined myself thinking that, let alone broadcasting it to the world. I was all about the burger – a juicy patty covered in some sort of delicious cheese and crunchy pickles and the bun, oh the bun. When Bubbledogs opened last year I had no interest in visiting and I still haven’t. I’m not a fan of bubbles and the word hot dog just didn’t appeal to me as it evoked memories of cheap plastic sausages in an anaemic bun. No thanks. It wasn’t until the team behind the iconic Sebright Arms relaunched The Miller in Bermondsey and I was invited to the launch of the new hot dog menu by none other than Street Kitchen that I decided, actually, hot dogs are pretty damn tasty – if they’re done well, of course. The hot dog menu at The Miller has been devised specially for the re-launch and features gourmet ingredients …

The Costardi Brothers at The House of Peroni

Last summer I was lucky enough to work on a fantastic project, which saw a huge range of Michelin starred chefs take up a residency at one of London’s iconic buildings in central London. The Costardi Brothers were a part of this residencey and I will never forget tasting their signature tomato risotto. So I was super happy to hear that they are back in London, this time at the House of Peroni, an ambitious project by the premium Italian style brand to celebrate and showcase the new wave of Italian talent from food, drink, design, art and fashion. I was invited to try a few bits from the menu last week and I have to say I was very impressed. The menu is called ‘Assaggi’, which is Italian for ‘taste’, and features an unexpected and contemporary take on traditional Italian dishes, with local ingredients imported from Italy’s Vercelli region. And the food menu is complimented by an amazing cocktail menu , which has been developed by Gerry Calabrese, one of the modern greats of …

Gluten Free ‘Nice and Nobbly’ Granola from Nature’s Path

I just wanted to alert you to an amazing gluten free granola that I disvocered a couple of weeks ago. Nature’s Path was kind enough to send me a couple of packs of their new ‘Nice and Nobbly’ granolas and I have to say they were devoured pretty quickly. The luxuriously crunchy granolas come in two indulgent flavours – Pumpkin Seeds, Almonds and Raisins with a light dash of cinnamon and Raspberries, Strawberries and Blueberries with yogurt chunks. Each features a tasty blend of rolled oats mixed with berries, seeds and nuts or yogurt pieces and is packed full of interesting flavour combinations and textures. Since 1985, Nature’s Path has been a ‘free-from’ breakfast pioneer and already makes the UK’s top-selling free-from cereal, ‘Mesa Sunrise’, which I had been eating prior to bring sent the granolas. I was sad when the last packet ran out recently and will now be going in search of more to keep up my delicious breakfast treats. Nature’s Path Nice and Nobbly Granola is priced at £3.49 and available to …
