Al fresco dining in London is a bit of a sore point for me. Whenever we see a bit of sun, althgouh let’s be honest that’s quite rare in this country, all I want to do is head to a nice restaurant and sit outside basking in the sunshine. The problem is that everyone else in the city has the same idea, so I always find that the outdoor spaces are mobbed.
So I was really looking forward to trying Prezzo last Friday evening. It was one of the hottest evenings of the year and we were booked on a table outside on the small but cute terrace on North Audley Street.
Prezzo has just launched a new summer menu, which includes a range of small plates, including dishes such as Soufflé with Beetroot Confit, Grilliad Asparagus and Prosciutto Ham and a Tomato and Mozzarella salad. Diners can choose one plate for £5.25, three for £14.95 or five for £19.95.
We enjoyed an Antipasto platter to start – prosciutto ham, salami milano, spicy ventricina salami, buffalo mozzarella, marinated olives, baby sunblushed tomatoes, fresh rocket and ciabatta bread and I tucked into a gluten free pizza for main. I was really pleased to see that they serve their whole range of pizzas (except spicy beef) on a gluten free base and I was impressed with it.
For dessert we were treated to the brand new trio of gelato cones, which arrived in a Prezzo branded cone holder. The three flavours were Tutti Fruitti, Chocolate Praline and Pink Bubblegum and we all tried a bite of each. My favourite was definitely the Chocolate Praline but the Pink Bubblegum came a close second, pureply because it tasted exactly like the bubblegum you get at the bottom of a screwball cone! The only slight problem with the gelato was that as soon as it arrived at our table, it had started to melt, perhaps because it was such a hot evening!
I enjoyed dinner at Prezzo and it’s nice to know that they have gluten free options and I’d definitely head back for a lazy lunch or a quick, easy and well priced dinner.
