#NewTradition #3 – Espresso Frozen Yoghurt with Caramelised Almonds

It’s not all about the strawberries and cream Tradition #3 – Frozen Yoghurt I think the biggest and most recognised tradition at Wimbledon is the strawberries and cream. It’s the first thing most people think of when I ask them, and judging by the entries on my Food for Think Lavazza Wimbledon Ballot competition, most of the entrants do too. But it’s not all strawberries and cream at Wimbledon it seems. I did a little research at the weekend and apparently in 2009, 20,000 portions of frozen yoghurt were sold during the tournament. So I thought I would put my Lazavva A Modo Mio to the test and make some espresso frozen yoghurt of my own. I also decided to toast and caramelise a few almonds and crush them on top, since almond pairs so well with coffee. This recipe is really simple, especially if you have an ice cream churner. I would love to see this treat on the menu at Wimbledon – refreshing frozen yoghurt with the welcome caffeine hit and the delicious …

Win a Hamper to Celebrate Lavazza at Wimbledon 2013

Tradition #2 – The Wimbledon Ballot One of my first memories of a Wimbledon ballot is being at my friend’s house, aged six, when her mum had just won tickets in the Wimbledon ballot. A major tennis fan, she was quite understandably extremely happy and her excitement was so infectious. It took a while for my six year old self to understand the concept of the ballot but it is something I have never forgotten, therefore making it one of my personal Wimbledon traditions. Now as you may know, I am part way through the Lazavva Wimbledon 2013 competition (see my post here for more info) and I have a 1 in 5 chance of winning tickets to visit Wimbledon this year. Lavazza, Italy’s favourite coffee brand, has invited 15 food and drink, fashion and lifestyle bloggers to share the culture of real Italian coffee through its values of excellence, tradition, innovation and experience and has asked us to enter this #NewTradition competition. And as well as having the chance to win tickets to Wimbledon …

Foxcroft and Ginger, Soho

Is this the best coffee in London? It’s definitely a contender! Foxcroft and Ginger is part of the growing number of coffee shops in London serving lip smackingly good Monmouth coffee – hallelujah!! I must add that they also serve a great range of freshly baked cakes and pastries, plus delectable sandwiches (some toasted). Tea and coffee is served in cute china cups and there is even an old fashioned mangle table that they put the cakes on – I particularly like this. Water bottles are old milk bottles with vintage prints and there is a display of ready bagged Monmouth coffee to purchase for take away. This time I had a Flat White, which is literally to die for – smooth and creamy. I also purchased the French Toast with Ham and Cheese. It arrived at the table toasted with a drizzle of honey. Great touch. My friend got a Cappuccino which came in a tall ceramic ‘plastic cup’. I first saw these a few years ago and instantly fell in love with them. …

Fremantle Arts Center Cafe

Fremantle is one of Perths best suburbs, in my opinion! We visited for a day to have a look around some of the vintage shops and stumbled upon a fantastic book shop, which had a huge cookery book section. I got lost in there for a while before trying on and buying a dress from the vintage store in the back. We then went for a bit to eat in the Fremantle Art Centre Cafe. By this time of the holiday, I was becoming obsessed with coffee – I cast my mind back a few months ago and I wouldn’t even touch the stuff. So I ordered a Flat White (my new favourite drink) and a Chorizo and Halloumi lunch board. We sat in the courtyard, which is very pretty – vintage bicycles hang on the wall and the tables are laid with flours. When we arrived, all of the seats in the shade were taken so we had to sit in the sun and it was slightly too hot for my liking. When you’ve …

Peter’s Yard, Edinburgh

I have a real craving for cinnamon at the moment, much to the amusement of my workmates and it has reminded me of a breakfast that I had when I was in Edinburgh a couple of weekends ago. One of my workmates lived in Edinburgh during her uni years and sent a few recommendations before we embarked on our 3 day trip. One of those suggestions was Peter’s Yard. So naturally, we decided to head there for breakfast. It ended up being a pretty late one and we didn’t want to eat too much as we had a hefty lunch planned at Petit Paris. We opted for a delicious Cinnamon bun and a lovely pot of tea to go with it. My friends ordered a flat white and cappuccino, which looked too delightful not to capture on film! The cafe itself was buzzing and full with very, very cool looking couples, yummy mummies and university students. The high ceilings made it feel very light, airy and modern (very Scandinavian). The food looked fresh, the salads …
