Beer and Pizza at Zero Degrees

Where Zero Degrees, Blackheath What Zero Degrees is the first of a line of five family run restaurants with onsite microbreweries. Experience On the corner of Blackheath park is Zero Degrees, Blackheath’s only Microbrewery and from some serious research, has a great reputation as a restaurant that specialises in Mussels and Pizza. Since opening in 2000, Zero degrees has continued to grow across the south with the enthusiasm of the family of ale lovers that are behind it. The beauty of it is the beer is brewed on site and right in front of the customers eyes, so needless to say; it tastes good. We started with a mango beer and a pale ale and quickly moved through to the restaurant to start eating. Both Jack and I had googled the menu, and seemed there was no reason to deprive ourselves for any longer. As discussed the night previously, we decided it was essential to try all the starters they had on offer (a slight exaggeration, but not by far). My favourite was hard to …

Made of Dough at Market Yard Kitchen

What Made of Dough will be serving their Neapolitan style pizza at Market Yard Kitchen until 15th May 2016. Where Mark Yard Kitchen in Shepherd’s Bush. Experience I somehow haven’t managed to make it down to Made of Dough in Pop Brixton, despite hearing great things about their pizza (winners of the 2015 London Pizza Festival, no less!), so I was pretty excited to head down to the opening of their six-week residency at Market Yard Kitchen. If anything was going to convince me to drag my sorry ass all the way from Hackney Wick to Shepherd’s Bush, then the promise of home made Neapolitan pizza and cocktails would more than do it. And we were not disappointed. Market Yard Kitchen have set up a dreamily lit and cosily heated outdoor space that is just perfect for these early spring nights when you want to eat outside because it’s actually light when you leave work but still, tediously, absolutely bloody freezing. The menu is short but effective, with five pizzas combining the thick yet blisteringly crisp Neapolitan …

Family Fun at Pizza Union

Where Pizza Union, Kings Cross  http://www.pizzaunion.com/ What After two years at the original Spitalfields restaurant, Pizza Union fires up its new all-day Pizza Bar in Kings Cross.   Experience I met my two sisters, niece and nephew at St Pancras Station, who were all visiting from the Midlands. Before we set off on a jam packed day of London tourism, we stopped by Pizza Union at Kings Cross for lunch.   “Pizza is my favourite” my little nephew Bobby told me with a huge grin on his face. You can tell we are related. We made our selection at the till and were given a buzzer and instructions to collect our pizzas at the bar. We ordered a Margherita and Fiorentina for the table, and grabbed some olives and drinks at the till. With such a reasonable price, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our pizzas. The Roman-style thin and crispy 12” wonders were made fresh to order and fire-baked in 3 minutes in a huge traditional domed stone pizza oven. The rich tomato …

Dr Oetker – As Cold as Ice

Well this is a little bit of fun. Pretty much the only frozen pizza brand that I can trust (that margherita with deicious green pesto!!) recently created a PR stunt unlike any other. A pizzeria made from four tonnes of ice opened, for one day only, outside Liverpool Street station. Crafted from 34 huge blocks of ice and using 3,400 litres of water, the stunt kicked off activity to promote Dr. Oetker Ristorante’s #freshnessfrozen campaign which is also being supported by its £2million marketing campaign consisting of the brand’s first ever money back guarantee on-pack promotion and heavy weight TV advertising. Each block of ice contained the essential ingredients of classic pizzas suspended within its frozen walls, which passers-by could watch in awe as they melted.

Bloody Mary Pizza at Mayfair Pizza Co

Where The Mayfair Pizza Co, London What Mayfair Pizza Co is nestled in Lancashire Court, one of London’s most famous districts. The restaurant serves a range of Italian dishes, including a rustic pizzas, which have been created by Executive Chef Michael Lecouteur, formerly of Bird of Smithfield and Smiths of Smithfield. The experience The first time I stumbled upon the narrow streets of Lancashire Court, I was with scouring the Mayfair streets with fellow bloggers as part of a competition to win a place on a press trip to Hong Kong. As I literally ran through the streets of Mayfair, past thousands of fashion revelers enjoying the Vogue Fashion Night Out, a huge smile emerged across my face as I wound through the nooks and crannies of Lancashire Court. A few years later I was back, but this time to sample the Bloody Mary pizza at the Mayfair Pizza Co. Now, I’m a self confessed Bloody Mary hater; but before you go asking why on earth I would want to subject myself to it in …
