I bloomin love chicken. A couple of years ago I never thought I’d say this, but, I might even go so far as saying that chicken is my favourite meat and over the last year or so, I have trawled London to eat lots of the stuff.
Last week my friend Kim and I visited Clockjack Oven in Soho to feast on chicken. And lots of it. The restaurant’s website states that customers will have ‘The best tasting and most succulent, lovingly prepared rotisserie experience.’ and I have to say, I think I agree.
We wanted to try a few bits so shared 4 pieces of chicken, chicken bites, the Clockjack Oven chicken burger, plus a portion of chips and a tomato, red onion and basil salad.
The waiter arrived and filled our table with dishes. There was a lot to eat. But we did it. And we enjoyed it all with a range of Clockjack Oven homemade sauces – ranch, chilli and barbeque. I had a chicken burger last Friday at Rotary, a pop up restaurant near my office, which I wasn’t overly impressed with. The Clockjack chicken burger walked all over it. It wasn’t sloppy, contained a piece of perfectly executed fried chicken and was served in a fluffy bun with two slices of tomato and a big piece of lettuce. It was as close to perfect as you can get for a chicken burger.
We just loved the chicken bites and agreed that they were a posh version of KFC. I’ll take these over a bucket of popcorn chicken any day.
The rotisserie chicken was just as impressive, the skin crispy and covered with a thin sprinkling of sea salt. Delicious.
We both with chocolate brownies for dessert. I opted for a scoop of clotted cream ice cream with mine and Kim went for chocolate. The brownie arrived, warm, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It wasn’t on my plate for very long.
I loved Clockjack Oven, perhaps even more than I expected. Soho has a new excellent good quality, good value restaurant and I’ll be back for more.

This place is yummy 🙂 We went there pre-theatre and it was just the perfect fast, easy and delicious start to the night 🙂
I agree. It was so lovely – can’t wait to go back.
