Calor’s Grill-2-Go Portable BBQ

A couple of weeks ago a very exciting product landed on my doorstep. Calor’s Grill-2-Go was sold to me as the perfect portable BBQ, perfect for those that love cooking in the great outdoors whether at home or away. So one sunny evening, we took it onto the roof and cooked home made lamb burgers and I was very impressed with the results! The BBQ itself is not light so it isn’t easily transportable by hand but it’s the perfect size to sling into the car and head to the countryside for an evening in the sunshine. I have a soft spot for Calor. Why? Because it reminds me of summers as a child spent in the garden with my family, my dad BBQing a delicious feast for the family. His BBQ was considerably larger but the results from the Grill-2-Go are the same. I am so impressed and happy that I can enjoy an amazing BBQ from the comfort of my roof. Now all we need is a bit of sunshine to enable me …

Win a Hamper to Celebrate Lavazza at Wimbledon 2013

Tradition #2 – The Wimbledon Ballot One of my first memories of a Wimbledon ballot is being at my friend’s house, aged six, when her mum had just won tickets in the Wimbledon ballot. A major tennis fan, she was quite understandably extremely happy and her excitement was so infectious. It took a while for my six year old self to understand the concept of the ballot but it is something I have never forgotten, therefore making it one of my personal Wimbledon traditions. Now as you may know, I am part way through the Lazavva Wimbledon 2013 competition (see my post here for more info) and I have a 1 in 5 chance of winning tickets to visit Wimbledon this year. Lavazza, Italy’s favourite coffee brand, has invited 15 food and drink, fashion and lifestyle bloggers to share the culture of real Italian coffee through its values of excellence, tradition, innovation and experience and has asked us to enter this #NewTradition competition. And as well as having the chance to win tickets to Wimbledon …

Let the Games Begin – Lavazza UK #NewTradition Challenge

I was a very happy girl on Thursday. Lavazza, one of my favourite coffee brands, asked me to take part in the best blogger competition known to man – Lavazza 2013 Wimbledon Blogger Challenge, otherwise known as #NewTradition. This year, Lavazza is celebrating it’s 3rd anniversary as the ‘Official Coffee of Wimbledon’ and has asked 15 bloggers to compete in a challenge with three finalists winning tickets to report live from Wimbledon with one finalist winning a trip to Turin, the home of Lavazza. This excited me for three reasons: 1) I am a MASSIVE coffee nut and spend a lot of time scouring the best cups of coffee in London. 2) I am now the proud owner of a Limited Edition Lavazza A Modo Mio machine (isn’t it BEAUTIFUL!) 3) There is a possibility that I can attend a round table discussion with Giuseppe Lavazza and Lavazza’s Brand Ambassador, as well as watching a couple of matches at Wimbledon. I look forward to Wimbledon all year round. I inherited an intense love of the …

Save the Children – Big IF in Hyde Park 8th June

Not so long ago, 46 year old Abadit was given a cow. This cow saved not only hers but her seven children’s lives. You see, Abadit lives in Ethiopia and is one of the many people that go hungry every day. I listened to the story of Abadit’s life, plus a few others who have been saved from the misery of hunger, whilst tasting ugali, a staple of many Ethiopians diets. Ugali consists of maize and water and is the only meal that many can afford. Can you imagine how it tastes? Well I can tell you – imagine putting a spoon of warm mushy water into your mouth. Ugali is completely tasteless and has no nutritional value whatsoever. We were at the house of a Save the Children campaigner to learn about the upcoming Big IF event that will take place in Hyde Park on Saturday 8th June. (More info here and sign up here). I felt incredibly lucky to be able to enjoy fine food and wine throughout the course of the evening. …

Why risk another UK summer washout?

This is a guest post by jet2.com At the end of last week I was so miserable about the weather. Rain, cloud and cold temperatures haven’t exactly worked wonders for my mood. We were lucky with a couple of sunny days over the bank holiday weekend but the rain has returned this week and I think it’s time to start thinking about a quick getaway. See below for the top five holiday destinations for summer 2013 from jet2.com. Amsterdam Whether for a long weekend or a ‘proper’ holiday, Amsterdam is sure to keep you busy, day and night. A wander down the canals, overtaken by cyclists and watched by those aboard the boats that sail next to you, it’s hard to think of anywhere you would rather be. 2013 celebrates the 400th anniversary of the city’s canals and the reopening of the Rijksmuseum, it having been closed for redevelopment for ten years. You will be spoilt for choice as to where to stay, with some of the best and most unusual – even eccentric – …
