Miele Gallery Launch

When I was invited to the Miele London Gallery launch party, I obliged. I was looking forward to it because all of the appliances in my kitchen are Miele. We have the oven, hob, hood, fryer, steamer and espresso maker, half of which I never use so I wanted to grill (excuse the pun) the experts. I arrived at the gallery and thought that from the outside it looked fantastic and well lit. You can see inside easily and the view of the appliances was enticing. I walked in and immediately received a warm welcome and a complimentary Veuve Clicquot champagne and was just in time for the official opening by Dr. Miele and Dr. Zinkaan, joint Managing Directors and Co-Proprietors of Miele. We were able to wander around and try the canapes that were being cooked before us using the various different appliances that were on show. My favourite canapés were quails breast on mini toast and dumplings that were being cooked in the steamer. There was a live demonstration by Steve Groves, winner …

Food Bloggers Connect 09

I spent my tube journey home last night examining the different tools my Lumix camera has to offer and that is thanks to the Bloggers Connect event that I attended yesterday at Levant in Central London. I heard about the event from the lovely Bethan a la dirtykitchensecrets after she posted a comment on my blog a couple of months ago. The event intrigued me, not only because it the first bloggers conference in the UK but I would be able meet and put faces to the people whose blogs I have been reading for a while. I didn’t know what to expect and was a little nervous walking in there on my own not knowing anyone but all nerves were shattered once I started talking. It wad a great event and I met some lovely people, some of who’s blogs I am not familiar with but look forward to reading! We started with a drink and chat then moved onto the Lebanese buffet that was prepared for us along with Lola’s mini cupcakes and …

Sushi Say – Willesden Green

I had been wanting to go to Sushi Say for a number of months since I heard about it through a friend, especially since it is situated about 20 minutes from my house in Willesden Green. My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere to go to celebrate our 2 year anniversary and he doesn’t exactly get exited about events like this so it was down to me. I booked a table a week before because from past experiences it had always been fully booked. When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly Japanese staff and a bevvy of Japanese locals sat around the sushi bar. Walking further back we headed to our table, nestled between a mother and son and two Italian men. The menu came and although extensive I knew what I wanted – sushi and lots of it. We were both hungry so I think even by our standards we ordered a lot of food. The first plates to arrive were the dumplings, edamame and White fish (which we were told was …

Vapiano

I was walking home from the tube last night and looked at my watch thinking it must have been close to 11pm. I was so wrong, it was 9.25pm. I left work near 6pm and managed to pack three activities in that didn’t even feel rushed. Firstly I went to leaving drinks at Bedford and Strand then hopped on a tube to Oxford Street and met up with Jack, his sister, mum, dad and little brother in Topshop. A few purchases later and we were off to Dream Vault on Great Titchfield Street for the Drakers magazine 75th birthday bash. We stayed at the party for a few canapés and a glass of champagne and were straight out the door with goody bag in arm, which contained some rather strange items including cycling shorts that promise to take 3,5 cms off your thighs and 5,5 cms off your hips if you wear them for 21 days straight. Naturally, I’m wearing them today and have to say they’re really rather comfortable. Only problem is that you …

The Ivy on a Wednesday evening

Due to the fact that you aren’t allowed to take photos inside The Ivy, unfortunately there are no photos of the food, sorry! I am lucky enough to have been to The Ivy a few times before and was excited to hear that my boyfriend’s grandma was coming down from Blackburn this week for her birthday treat – The Ivy. It’s not a restaurant, however that I want to shout about visiting. There are foodies that will tell you your money is better off spent elsewhere, after all I do live in London, a city rich with impressive restaurants. There are also the people who haven’t been who may feel you’re in for the best meal of your life. I like The Ivy and I have to say I never thought I would get to go (I had wanted to for years). The food is simple and delicious, although I have had the same dish my last couple of visits. The first time I went was my 21st birthday – my boyfriend had booked in …
