Cocktails in the City: Mayfair

What All you cocktail swiggers out there will be pleased to know that Cocktails in the City are back for another three day cocktail party from 10th-12th March in one of Mayfair’s’ most beautiful Grade II listed buildings. Twenty pop up bars will be spread over four floors, and this year that includes an international floor with guest mixologists from Amsterdam and Paris. Don’t miss your chance to lap up some of London’s tastiest tipples all under one roof. Another exciting edition for this year are the bespoke cocktail master classes that will be taking place on Thursday and Friday. They all look pretty impressive. I’ve added “What if Tequila were British?” with Oxo Tower and Patron Tequila, as well as “Tales of the Sazera” with Hawksmoor Spitalfields Bar and Rittenhouse Rye/Maxime Trijol to my Filofax. I’m heading down ASAP on the Thursday, so can expect another tragic weekday hangover on Friday. Why wait?! Where One Mayfair Cost Tickets are £15 and can be found here: http://cocktailsinthecity.designmynight.com/cocktails-in-the-city-london

Bunnychow Launches ‘Better Breads’ Menu

What Bunnychow launches their new ‘Better Breads’ menu; a lighter take on the classic South African dish with even punchier fillings. Where Bunnychow 74 Wardour Street Soho London Experience Straight after work on a vibrant, busy Soho evening I made my way to Bunnychow to meet my pal Lucy for a catch-up dinner. While I waited for Lucy to stroll a few metres from her office I picked a Cucumber Mojito from the selection of fresh exotic juices behind the counter and, as it was Thursday, added a naughty shot of rum. For those who have been living in a cave, Bunnychow’s now infamous ‘Bunnys’ are South African inspired hollowed out round freshly baked loaves crammed with your choice of delicious hot filling. Lucy arrived and after a natter we made our way to the counter to pick a Bunny. First we select our bread, then filling, then topping. I went for a nutrient-rich charcoal brioche and succulent pulled pork bunny. Lucy had a matcha green tea loaf with a veggie filling, made up …

Tasty tapas and beautiful beer!

Where Iberica http://www.ibericarestaurants.com/ What A four coursed pairing menu to celebrate Casimirou Mahou beers Experience On Monday, we sampled the delights of Marylebone Iberica restaurant, which given it was 6pm on a Monday  was really quite busy. I must admit, like spain, I really do dedicate the majority of my alcoholic intake to wine and wasn’t the most excited about an evening of beer drinking, however I was very pleasantly surprised. The first beer  that was served was the Casimiro Marcenado, a refreshing wheat beer, which surprisingly is flavoured with banana, it’s delicious!  This was my favourite and was  paired with  scallop with seaweed purée, hollandaise sauce and celery. The next beer we sampled was Casamiro Maravillas, which is a strong lager (7%) which we enjoyed with a taco of quail with marinated apple. The last savoury dish was a very gamey morteruelo with wild mushrooms which was served with a Casamiro Jacometrezo. A strong ale As we enjoyed our meal, our very educated waiter explained the fittingly romantic story behind Casimiro Mahou, which was …

The Little Yellow Door

Where thelittleyellowdoor.co.uk    What West London’s friendliest food and drink pop-up in the heart of Notting hill Experience In one of the best cities for bars and clubs in the world, I must admit my best nights in London have always been house parties where somehow at the end of the night you have made plans with five new friends. I mean a lot of these never come to fruition, but all the same. These nights are the best. As we all grow up and our cohabiting moves further from ten flatmates to two, the notion of making a mess in a larger space, doesn’t seem too silly an option, and if you are going to do this, then “The Little Yellow Door” is one of the best options. You arrive to a yellow door (aptly), which you will no doubt walk past three times before believing it is not only a residential property, but once you sneak past the jovial doorman, you arrive at a very impressively kitted out  lounge (I wouldn’t go if …
