#NewTradition #10 – Latte Art Love Birds

Last week I attended a Lavazza Masterclass in Covent Garden to learn a bit more about the history for the brand, along with how to make the perfect cup of coffee. We were shown how to use the frothing wand on our Limited Edition Wimbledon A Modo Mio machines and I made the most delicious cappuccino I had ever made up until that point, but we didn’t have enough time to experiment with latte art. I have wanted to be able to do latte art for a long time so last night I shut myself in my kitchen, armed with nearly 3 litres of milk, over 25 Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules plus a few coffee cups and set to work with my machine. Latte art wasn’t as easy as I first thought. The first few attempts were pretty poor and it took a while to get to understand correct ratio of milk, how high (and low) to hold the jug, how fast to pour and when to move the jug around. You can see …

#NewTradition #8 – Strawberries and Cream at Wimbledon

Not a new tradition, I know, but strawberries and cream has to be the most famous tradition of Wimbledon. Every single person that I have asked over the last week or so has said that first, following with ‘I just love it’, of course. I had a Lavazza Afternoon Coffee party at the weekend and rather than just serving strawberries and cream in a bowl, I wanted to do something a bit different but not so different that it would take away from the utterly amazing and simple combination that is strawberries and cream. So I turned it into a cake. You may know that I am currently on a gluten free diet. It has been four weeks since I gave it up but I have to say that my cake was too tempting on Sunday. It was looking at me, shouting ‘eat me Sarah, EAT MEEEE’. So I just had to. And I don’t have a single regret about it. This really is the perfect show stopping cake and I would recommend it for …

#NewTradition #3 – Espresso Frozen Yoghurt with Caramelised Almonds

It’s not all about the strawberries and cream Tradition #3 – Frozen Yoghurt I think the biggest and most recognised tradition at Wimbledon is the strawberries and cream. It’s the first thing most people think of when I ask them, and judging by the entries on my Food for Think Lavazza Wimbledon Ballot competition, most of the entrants do too. But it’s not all strawberries and cream at Wimbledon it seems. I did a little research at the weekend and apparently in 2009, 20,000 portions of frozen yoghurt were sold during the tournament. So I thought I would put my Lazavva A Modo Mio to the test and make some espresso frozen yoghurt of my own. I also decided to toast and caramelise a few almonds and crush them on top, since almond pairs so well with coffee. This recipe is really simple, especially if you have an ice cream churner. I would love to see this treat on the menu at Wimbledon – refreshing frozen yoghurt with the welcome caffeine hit and the delicious …

Win a Hamper to Celebrate Lavazza at Wimbledon 2013

Tradition #2 – The Wimbledon Ballot One of my first memories of a Wimbledon ballot is being at my friend’s house, aged six, when her mum had just won tickets in the Wimbledon ballot. A major tennis fan, she was quite understandably extremely happy and her excitement was so infectious. It took a while for my six year old self to understand the concept of the ballot but it is something I have never forgotten, therefore making it one of my personal Wimbledon traditions. Now as you may know, I am part way through the Lazavva Wimbledon 2013 competition (see my post here for more info) and I have a 1 in 5 chance of winning tickets to visit Wimbledon this year. Lavazza, Italy’s favourite coffee brand, has invited 15 food and drink, fashion and lifestyle bloggers to share the culture of real Italian coffee through its values of excellence, tradition, innovation and experience and has asked us to enter this #NewTradition competition. And as well as having the chance to win tickets to Wimbledon …
