Where Commune at Goodhood, Shoreditch What Commune at Goodhood is a partnership between Brett Redman (Elliot’s Cafe, Borough Market) and Goodhood co-founders Jo Sindle and Kyle Stewart. It’s located on the lower floor of the 3,000 square Goodhood store in Shoreditch, a plaec both men and women can find the best of a globally curated selection of womenswear, menswear, accessories, kidswear, beauty & grooming products and homeware. The experience Shoreditch has featured heavily in my London life. Nine years ago I was frequenting the Vice pub and slumming it in 333. In those days, the only clothing store I was aware of was American Apparel on Curtain Road. This was back when Redchurch Street was nothing but graffiti and the odd passer by. Shoreditch has changed a lot in that time, definitely for the better, and it’s not surprising that it has become one of London’s best shopping districts, full of independent boutiques, restaurants and cafes. Experience I don’t know about you, but I find it really hard to find good cafetiere coffee in the supermarkets. There is so much choice that at times it can be daunting. I know my favourite brands, but I like to explore and quite often end up buying something new and being disappointed with it. 1) What is your earliest hair memory? My earliest hair memory was playing with hair mascaras and braiding. Being the only girl in the family with three brothers, my mum always played around with different styles on my hair so I learnt how to braid really early and it’s still one of my favorite things to do. 2) How old were you when you decided to become a hairdresser? I knew I wanted to be a hairdresser from my early teens. Going to the salon was the biggest treat and watching the stylists create glamour in a 45 minute appointment amazed me. 3) How did you start in the profession? My career started at 16. I started studying at 6th form but I was desperate to leave and get into the salon and any spare time I had I’d research session stylists. The restaurant serves a range of Italian dishes, including a rustic pizzas, which have been created by Executive Chef Michael Lecouteur, formerly of Bird of Smithfield and Smiths of Smithfield. The experience The first time I stumbled upon the narrow streets of Lancashire Court, I was with scouring the Mayfair streets with fellow bloggers as part of a competition to win a place on a press trip to Hong Kong. As I literally ran through the streets of Mayfair, past thousands of fashion revelers enjoying the Vogue Fashion Night Out, a huge smile emerged across my face as I wound through the nooks and crannies of Lancashire Court.
