Christmas Collection Hamper from Hampergifts

I know what you’re thinking. But let me tell you that when it comes to Christmas, you can never be too organised. In fact, when I was passing my local butcher at the weekend, I popped in to ask them how much notice we need to give for our all important piece of festive meat. I had my first taste of Christmas a couple of weeks ago when I was treated to a Hampergifts Christmas Hamper delivery. The hamper was almost too heavy to carry when it arrived and I had to ask the lovely delivery man  to carry it all the way across the office to my desk. When he left, I unwrapped everything and it felt like Christmas had come early. I popped open the lid of the beautiful large wicker hamper and rummaged my way through the Christmas coloured stuffing to uncover the contents. I received the Christmas Collection Hamper, which doesn’t just contain two bottles of red wine, a bottle of white and a bottle of Prosecco, but a whole range …

Sashimi Pizza at Gilgamesh, Camden

I get excited about food. But it’s only every so often that I get REALLY excited by a dish. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to try the new dishes at Gilgamesh, including a dish that really intrigued me, sashimi pizza. So me and Gabriela made our way to Camden on a hot September evening to try the dishes and for the first time in 8 years in London I walked up the inconspicuous escalator instead of past it for once. Pizza is my favourite food (I’m not ashamed to admit it) and sashimi is also right up there. I’ve had moments where I have been completely addicted to sashimi and I’ll go to great lengths to get hold of it. But I had never heard of sticking the two together before and I wasn’t totally sure whether it would actually work. Gilgamesh is a restaurant renowned for the amazing Pan-Asian cuisine and Executive Chef Ian Pengelley wanted to take it to the next level by combining flavours of the East with a …

Clockjack Oven, Soho

I bloomin love chicken. A couple of years ago I never thought I’d say this, but, I might even go so far as saying that chicken is my favourite meat and over the last year or so, I have trawled London to eat lots of the stuff. Last week my friend Kim and I visited Clockjack Oven in Soho to feast on chicken. And lots of it. The restaurant’s website states that customers will have ‘The best tasting and most succulent, lovingly prepared rotisserie experience.’ and I have to say, I think I agree. We wanted to try a few bits so shared 4 pieces of chicken, chicken bites, the Clockjack Oven chicken burger, plus a portion of chips and a tomato, red onion and basil salad. The waiter arrived and filled our table with dishes. There was a lot to eat. But we did it. And we enjoyed it all with a range of Clockjack Oven homemade sauces – ranch, chilli and barbeque. I had a chicken burger last Friday at Rotary, a pop …

Grana Padano and Prosciutto di San Daniele Baked Toastie Recipe

A few weeks ago I was sent a rather lovely hamper, which contained some delicious ingredients – Grana Padano aand Prosciutto di San Daniele. The idea? For me and 11 other bloggers to compete in a recipe challenge competition to win £450 worth of vouchers for La Cucina Caldesi Cookery School. It sounded great so as soon as my hamper arrived, I got cracking, literally. The competition is to raise awareness of the “PDO – The taste of origin and tradition” campaign, which was launched in partnership with the Consortium or Prosciutto di San Daniele and the Consortium of Grana Padano Cheese and is designed to promote Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) products. The recipe I have devised for this competition is simple. I am a very busy lady and it is designed for people like me – who like to be able to cook something quick and delicious on a work night. In fact, I cooked this before a netball match on a Monday evening – it was quick, delicious and very satisfying. Grana Padano, …

Tamarind, Mayfair

After living in London for 8 years,  I have finally gone and bought myself a bike. Well, I bought myself a beautiful new bike and used it for 3 days before it broke. So for the last 2 weeks I have been racing around the city the bike of the guy that sold it to me while he fixes it. And it seems I have a few things to learn. Mainly how to actually ride it on London streets. Last night I was on my way to Tamarind in Mayfair when I not only cut up a rollerblader (who rollerblades in Central London in the dark anyway?!) and clipped his boot as he was whizzing by, but dropped my bike (and fell with it) onto the street and almost onto a Porsche, right outside the Michelin starred restaurant I was visiting. Luckily no one saw me and I managed to hide my helmet in my bag before venturing into the restaurant and being greeted by the reception staff. I was taken downstairs to my table …
